Latanoprostene Bunod 0.024% ophthalmic solution is indicated for the reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It increases aqueous humor outflow through both the trabecular meshwork and uveoscleral routes.
Indications
- Open-angle glaucoma
- Ocular hypertension
Dosage
Adult Dose:
- 1 drop in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening
- Do not use more than once daily (more frequent use may lessen the IOP-lowering effect)
- Allow 5 minutes interval with other topical ophthalmic drugs
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Pigmentation changes (iris and periorbital tissue) - may be permanent
- Eyelash changes (increased length, thickness, number) - reversible
- Intraocular inflammation (iritis/uveitis) - caution
- Macular edema (including cystoid macular edema)
- Bacterial keratitis - associated with contamination of multiple-dose containers
Precautions & warnings
- Pigmentation changes: Increased iris pigmentation (permanent); periorbital tissue darkening (reversible)
- Caution with history of intraocular inflammation; do not use with active inflammation
- Caution in aphakic, pseudophakic (with torn posterior capsule), or patients with risk factors for macular edema
- Do not use with contact lenses (contains benzalkonium chloride)
