Description

Each effervescent tablet contains Calcium Lactate Gluconate (1000-1358 mg), Calcium Carbonate (327-1050 mg equivalent to 600 mg elemental calcium), Ascorbic Acid (500 mg) and Cholecalciferol (400 IU). It ensures bone health, immunity and overall wellness.

Indications

Prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiency, adjunctive therapy in prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, meeting calcium and vitamin needs during pregnancy and lactation, prevention of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in elderly, supportive therapy in cold and flu, postmenopausal syndrome and premenstrual symptoms

Pharmacology

Adequate calcium in blood is essential for normal nerve, muscle and heart function. Coral calcium has chemical structure similar to human bone ensuring better absorption. Vitamin D3 enhances intestinal calcium absorption and stimulates bone formation. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that plays a vital role in fighting infections.

Mechanism of action

Calcium helps maintain bone mineralization and density. Vitamin D3 increases absorption of calcium and phosphate from the intestine. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant and aids in collagen synthesis. The combined action of these three components ensures bone health, immunity and overall wellness.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents: 1 tablet daily. Children: 1/2 tablet daily. Or as directed by the physician.

Administration

Pour 1 tablet in a glass of water, dissolve within 1-2 minutes, drink immediately. Can be taken with or without food.

Missed dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Side effects

Common side effects: Gastrointestinal discomfort (constipation, flatulence, nausea, gastric pain, diarrhea), skin rash (rare), allergic reactions, irregular heartbeat, vomiting, loss of appetite, dry mouth, drowsiness. Serious side effects (rare): Hypercalcemia (high blood calcium).

Precautions & warnings

Use with caution in patients with sarcoidosis, renal or cardiac disease and those receiving cardiac glycosides. Ensure adequate fluid intake in patients with history of stone formation. Discontinuation usually normalizes hypercalcemia. Do not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 1000 IU vitamin D daily during third trimester of pregnancy.

Contraindications

Hypercalcemia (due to myeloma, bone metastases or other malignant bone diseases), primary hyperparathyroidism, hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis, severe renal failure, vitamin D overdose, hypersensitivity to any component.

Drug interactions

Digoxin/cardiac glycosides: calcium and vitamin D may increase effects. Thiazide diuretics reduce urinary calcium excretion, increasing hypercalcemia risk. Tetracyclines, doxycycline, oxytetracycline, quinolone antibiotics: calcium reduces absorption - maintain at least 4 hours gap. Levothyroxine, bisphosphonates, sodium fluoride, iron: calcium reduces absorption - maintain gap. Phenytoin, barbiturates reduce vitamin D effect.

Food interactions

Calcium, vitamin D and C supplements can be taken with or without food. Absorption of vitamin D is enhanced when taken with fatty foods.

Use in pregnancy

Calcium and vitamin D requirements increase during pregnancy. This tablet can be used during pregnancy. However, daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 1000 IU vitamin D during the third trimester. Use under medical supervision.

Pregnancy Category: C — always consult a doctor before taking during pregnancy.

Use in lactation

Vitamin D and its metabolites are excreted in breast milk. This tablet can be used during breastfeeding, but consult your doctor.

Pediatric use

Children: 1/2 tablet daily. Consult a pediatrician.

Geriatric use

Elderly (especially homebound) have higher risk of calcium and vitamin D deficiency, making this supplement particularly beneficial.

Renal / hepatic impairment

Contraindicated in severe renal failure. Caution required in mild to moderate renal failure or mild hypercalciuria. Liver disease may impair conversion of vitamin D to its active form. Consult your doctor.

Overdose effects

Symptoms of overdose: nausea and vomiting, severe drowsiness, dry mouth, loss of appetite, metallic taste, stomach cramps, diarrhea, constipation, weakness, headache, dizziness, irritability, unconsciousness. Most serious consequence of vitamin D toxicity is hypercalcemia.

Storage conditions

Store below 25°C in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Keep the container tightly closed.
