Description

Each film-coated tablet contains Calcium Carbonate (Algae Source) 1250 mg equivalent to elemental Calcium 500 mg and Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) 200 IU. The calcium from algae source is extracted from red algae found on the shores of South America. It has higher absorption rate (75%) compared to other calcium sources.

Indications

Treatment of osteoporosis, rickets, osteomalacia, tetany, hypoparathyroidism, calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency prevention during pregnancy and lactation.

Therapeutic class

Specific mineral & vitamin combined preparations

Pharmacological class

Calcium supplement + Vitamin D3

Pharmacology

Calcium from algae source ensures better absorption than coral or other calcium carbonate due to its fibrous chemical structure. Calcium is absorbed in the intestine, enters the bloodstream and is deposited in bones. Vitamin D3 aids in calcium absorption from the GI tract and stimulates bone formation.

Mechanism of action

Calcium helps maintain bone mineralization and density and ensures normal nerve and muscle function. Vitamin D3 increases absorption of calcium and phosphate from the intestine. Calcium and Vitamin D3 have synergistic effects on bone growth, osteoporosis prevention and fracture prevention.

Dosage

Adults: 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet at night or as directed by the physician.

Administration

Can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole; do not chew or crush.
