Description
This gel acts as a contraceptive by lowering vaginal pH and reducing sperm motility. In vitro studies have shown that the pH-lowering effect and sperm motility reduction contribute to the activity of this gel in the vagina. Systemic exposures of Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, and Potassium Bitartrate following vaginal administration are not expected to lead to safety concerns. This gel may be used concomitantly with other products for vaginal infections including Miconazole, Metronidazole, and Tioconazole.

Pharmacology
Acts as a contraceptive by lowering vaginal pH and reducing sperm motility. In vitro studies showed that the pH-lowering effect and sperm motility reduction contribute to the activity of this gel in the vagina.
Mechanism of action
Lowers vaginal pH and reduces sperm motility, helping prevent pregnancy.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Vaginal Application):
- Administer 5 g gel vaginally immediately before (or up to one hour before) each episode of vaginal intercourse
- May use during any part of the menstrual cycle
- Apply using the provided applicator
Administration
- Screw the applicator onto the tube and measure 5 g
- Insert the applicator into the vagina as deeply as possible
- Push the piston to penetrate gel completely
- Clean the applicator with warm water and soap after each use
- Wash hands after use
Missed dose
Not generally applicable (use as needed); consult doctor if needed.

Precautions & warnings
- Avoid use in women with a history of recurrent UTI or urinary tract abnormalities (cystitis and pyelonephritis risk)

Contraindications
- Avoid the use of this gel with vaginal rings
Drug interactions
This gel may be used concomitantly with other products for vaginal infections including Miconazole, Metronidazole, and Tioconazole.

There is no use for this gel in pregnancy (used as a contraceptive).
