Netarsudil eye prep is used for reducing elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It is a dual inhibitor of Rho kinase and norepinephrine plasma membrane transport protein that increases trabecular outflow.
Description
Netarsudil is a Rho kinase inhibitor that works at the cellular level within the trabecular outflow pathway to relax actin-myosin, causing relaxation within the trabecular meshwork and inner wall of Schlemm's canal, and decreases episcleral venous pressure (EVP). It also inhibits norepinephrine plasma membrane transport protein.

Pharmacology
Netarsudil inhibits Rho kinase to relax trabecular meshwork and inner wall of Schlemm's canal, decreasing episcleral venous pressure. It also inhibits norepinephrine plasma membrane transport protein to increase trabecular outflow.

Reduces intraocular pressure by increasing trabecular outflow.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Eye Drops):
- 1 drop in affected eye(s) once daily in the evening
Administration
- For ophthalmic use only
- Do not touch dropper tip to eye or any surface
- Remove contact lenses before administration (reinsert after 15 minutes)
- Administer at least 5 minutes apart from other eye drops
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember; skip if it's almost time for next dose; do not double the dose.

- Conjunctival hemorrhage
- Instillation site erythema (5-10%)

Precautions & warnings
- Risk of bacterial keratitis with multiple-dose containers (due to contamination)
- Caution in patients with corneal disease or disruption of ocular epithelial surface
