Description
Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride is an alpha1A adrenoreceptor agonist that acts as a vasoconstrictor of the cutaneous microvasculature. It constricts superficial blood vessels on the face to reduce redness associated with rosacea.

Pharmacology
Oxymetazoline acts as an α1A adrenoreceptor agonist to constrict blood vessels in the cutaneous microvasculature, reducing facial redness associated with rosacea.
Mechanism of action
Reduces rosacea redness by constricting skin blood vessels.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Topical):
- Apply a pea-sized amount once daily in a thin layer to entire face (forehead, nose, cheeks, chin)
- Avoid eyes and lips

Missed dose
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember; skip if it's almost time for next dose; do not double the dose.
Side effects

- Application-site dermatitis (2%)
- Worsening inflammatory lesions of rosacea (1%)
- Application-site pruritus (1%)
- Application-site erythema (1%)
- Application-site pain (1%)
Precautions & warnings
- α-Adrenergic agonists may impact blood pressure; caution in cardiovascular disease, orthostatic hypotension, uncontrolled hypertension/hypotension
- Caution in cerebral/coronary insufficiency, Raynaud's phenomenon, thromboangiitis obliterans, scleroderma, Sjogren's syndrome
- Seek immediate medical care if signs of acute narrow-angle glaucoma develop
