Description
Ozenoxacin is a quinolone antimicrobial drug. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of bacterial DNA replication enzymes, DNA gyrase A and topoisomerase IV. It is bactericidal against Staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-resistant isolates) and Streptococcus pyogenes.
Indications
- Impetigo caused by Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes (in adults and children 2 months+)

Pharmacology
Ozenoxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase A and topoisomerase IV to prevent DNA replication, resulting in bacterial cell death.
Mechanism of action
Treats impetigo by killing the causative bacteria.
Dosage
Adults and Children 2 months+:
- Apply a thin layer topically to affected area every 12 hours for 5 days
- Adults and adolescents >12 years: Affected area up to 100 cm²
- 2 months-12 years: Up to 2% of total body surface area, not exceeding 100 cm²
Administration
- For external use only
- Wash hands before application
- Do not use in eyes, mouth, lips, inside nose, or female genital area
- May be covered with sterile bandage or gauze
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember; skip if it's almost time for next dose; do not double the dose.
Side effects

- Seborrheic dermatitis
Precautions & warnings
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible bacteria and fungi
- Antagonistic interaction observed with ciprofloxacin against S. aureus
