Recombinant Follicle Stimulating Hormone (rFSH) is used for ovarian follicle stimulation in women and spermatogenesis in men. It is used in infertility treatment to induce ovarian hyperstimulation and spermatogenesis.
Description
FSH is a gonadotropin that regulates ovarian follicle growth and maturation in women and spermatogenesis in men. Recombinant FSH has the same biological activity as natural FSH and is used in superovulation, IVF, and other assisted reproductive technologies.

Pharmacology
Recombinant FSH stimulates ovarian follicle growth and maturation and spermatogenesis, similar to natural FSH. It binds to FSH receptors, activating adenylate cyclase and increasing cAMP production, leading to follicle growth and estrogen secretion.
Mechanism of action
Stimulates ovarian follicle growth and spermatogenesis.
Dosage
Adult Dose (SC/IM):
- Female (superovulation): Start on cycle day 2-3, 75-300 IU/day, adjust dose based on hormonal response
- Male (spermatogenesis): 75-150 IU 2-3 times weekly for at least 3-6 months
- Dose individualization required; as directed by physician

- Administered by healthcare professional as SC or IM injection
- Do not self-administer
- Follow the prescribed schedule
