Triamcinolone Acetonide is a steroid used for allergic disorders, severe allergic reactions, and rheumatic disorders. It provides relief by preventing the release of substances that cause inflammation and by suppressing the immune system.

Pharmacology
Triamcinolone has mainly glucocorticoid activity. It suppresses the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and reduces capillary permeability, thereby decreasing inflammation.
Dosage
Adult Dose:
- IM: 20-80 mg deep IM into gluteal muscles
- Hay fever: 40-100 mg IM
- Rheumatic/arthritic disorders: 60 mg IM every 6 weeks
- Intra-articular: small joints 2.5-5 mg, larger joints 5-15 mg
- Intradermal: 1-3 mg/site
Child Dose: 6-12 years: 0.03-0.2 mg/kg IM every 1-7 days; >12 years: 60 mg IM every 6 weeks

- Headache
- Infection
- Joint pain
- Injection site reaction
Use in pregnancy
Use in Pregnancy: May be unsafe; animal studies show harmful effects; consult your doctor.
Pregnancy Category: C — always consult a doctor before taking during pregnancy.
Precautions & warnings
- Does not usually affect ability to drive
- Mood changes or stomach problems may occur; inform your doctor
- Do not stop suddenly; may worsen symptoms
- Stay away from people with viral infections
- Regular medical tests may be needed for long-term use
Overdose effects
Symptoms: Inflammation, hypertension, electrolyte imbalance.
Treatment: Supportive care.
