Betamethasone 0.1% + Clotrimazole 1% Topical is a combination medicine used to treat various types of skin infections, usually fungal infections. It minimizes symptoms of inflammation such as redness, swelling, and itching and acts against the infection-causing microorganisms.
Indications
- Tinea pedis
- Tinea cruris
- Tinea corporis
- Allergic or inflammatory skin diseases
Pharmacology
Betamethasone is a corticosteroid with mainly glucocorticoid activity. It prevents and controls inflammation by controlling the rate of protein synthesis, depressing the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and fibroblasts, and reversing capillary permeability and lysosomal stabilisation.
Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent used for the treatment of superficial infections caused by species of pathogenic dermatophytes, yeasts and Malassezia furfur. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of the synthesis of ergosterol, a major sterol in the fungal cell membrane. This leads to instability of the cell membrane and eventual death of the fungus.
Dosage
Adults: Apply a thin layer to the affected area twice daily (every 12 hours).
- Tinea corporis and tinea cruris: Up to 2 weeks
- Tinea pedis: Up to 4 weeks
Children (under 17 years): Safety and efficacy have not been established.

Use in pregnancy

Precautions & warnings
- For use on skin only; avoid eyes, mouth, and vagina
- Do not use occlusive dressings unless directed by a doctor
- If severe irritation or allergy occurs, discontinue use
- Inform your doctor if no improvement after 2 weeks
- Caution during pregnancy and lactation
Overdose effects
Acute overdose is unlikely and not life-threatening. Do not use for longer than prescribed.
Storage conditions
Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
