Cromolin4%

Cromolin 4% is a ophthalmic solution manufactured by The IBN SINA Pharmaceutical PLC in Bangladesh. Its active ingredient is Sodium Cromoglicate [4%].

Indications

Cromolin is indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of acute and chronic allergic seasonal and perennial conjunctivitis, including hay fever and keratoconjunctivitis, vernal and allergic conjunctivitis caused by contact lens use.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in those patients who have shown hypersensitivity to Sodium Cromoglycate or to any of the other ingredients of eye drops.

Pharmacology

Sodium Cromoglycate inhibits the degranulation of sensitized mast cells which occurs after exposure to specific antigens. Sodium Cromoglycate acts by inhibiting the release of histamine and SRS-A (slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis) from the mast cell.

Dosage & Administration

Usual recommended dose

: 1-2 drops in each eye 4-6 times a day at regular intervals. But several studies proved that 4% sodium cromoglycate eye-drops twice daily is as effective as 2% sodium cromoglycate four times daily in the treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.

Interaction

No evidence of interaction with other drugs has been observed.

Side Effects

Blurred vision, burning or stinging, cold syndrome, dry eye, foreign body sensation, hyperemia, hypersensitivity, keratitis, lid edema

Pregnancy & Lactation

Caution should be excerised when administered to Pregnant woman and lacting mother.

Precautions & Warnings

To prevent contaminating the dropper tip and solution, care should be taken not to touch the eyelids or surrounding areas with the dropper tip of the bottle. The recommended frequency of administration should not be exceeded. Do not wear contact lenses during treatment with sodium cromoglycate.

Overdose Effects

Overdose is unlikely. In the event of accidental ingestion, symptomatic treatment is recommended.
