Desonide 0.05% Topical is a mild to moderate potency topical corticosteroid used for the treatment of skin conditions with inflammation and itching.
Indications
- Mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (patients 3 months and older)
- Skin conditions with inflammation and itching
Dosage
Adult: Apply a thin layer to affected areas 2-4 times daily. Discontinue when control is achieved. If no improvement within 4 weeks, discontinue use.
Side effects
Common local side effects: Burning, rash, and pruritus at the application site.
Rare (with higher potency steroids or occlusive dressings): Folliculitis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, and miliaria.
Precautions & warnings
For external use only; avoid contact with eyes; do not use on underarm or groin areas in children; discontinue if irritation develops; do not use occlusive dressings; do not use on infected skin; do not use for more than 4 consecutive weeks.
