Pseudoephedrine + Triprolidine is a combination medicine used for relief of common cold symptoms such as runny nose, stuffy nose, sneezing, watery eyes, and congestion. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that narrows small blood vessels to relieve nasal congestion, and Triprolidine is an antiallergic that relieves allergy symptoms.
Indications
- Common cold symptoms (runny nose, stuffy nose, sneezing, watery eyes, congestion)
Pharmacology
Pseudoephedrine stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors of the respiratory mucosa, causing vasoconstriction and reducing nasal mucosal swelling and congestion. Triprolidine blocks H1 receptors, preventing histamine effects and relieving allergy symptoms (runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes).
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- Allergic rhinitis/Cold and flu: 1 tablet every 4-6 hours, up to 4 times daily
Pediatric Dose (Oral):
- >12 years: Same as adult
