Sodium Cromoglycate 4% Eye/Nasal Prep is used for allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, and watery eyes. It works by inhibiting mast cell degranulation.

Indications
  • Allergic conjunctivitis (eyes)
  • Allergic rhinitis (nose)
Pharmacology

Sodium Cromoglycate stabilizes mast cell membranes, preventing the release of allergy mediators after antigen-antibody reaction. It helps relieve allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, and watery eyes.

Dosage

Adult (Eyes):

  • 2 drops of 4% solution 4-6 times daily

Adult (Nose):

  • 1 drop into each nostril 2-3 times daily
Side effects

Common Side Effects:

  • Stinging sensation
  • Nasal irritation
  • Burning sensation
  • Sneezing
Use in pregnancy

Use in Pregnancy: Generally safe; animal studies show low or no adverse effects; limited human data; consult your doctor.

Pregnancy Category: C — always consult a doctor before taking during pregnancy.

Precautions & warnings
  • Inform doctor if symptoms do not improve within 3 weeks
  • Avoid deep breathing (may cause medication to go to throat)
  • Do not share the bottle with others
Overdose effects

Overdose is not applicable (topical application); excessive use may cause local irritation.
