Magaldrate is used to relieve symptoms of dyspepsia, heartburn, acid indigestion, gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, and flatulence. It is also prescribed for hyperacidity associated with peptic ulcers, gastritis, and esophagitis.
Indications
- Dyspepsia, heartburn, acid indigestion
- Gastroesophageal reflux and hiatal hernia
- Hyperacidity associated with peptic ulcers, gastritis and esophagitis
- Flatulence
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- Mild gastric disorders, gastritis: 1-2 tablets/1-2 teaspoonfuls, 1-2 hours after meals or at bedtime
- Duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, reflux oesophagitis: 2-4 tablets/2-4 teaspoonfuls, 1-2 hours after meals or at bedtime
Children: Half of the adult dose

Common Side Effects:
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
Precautions & warnings
- Caution in decreased kidney function, hypophosphataemia, and weak people
- Inform doctor if signs of appendicitis (lower abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, nausea, vomiting) occur
