Salicylic Acid 6% & 12% Topical preparations are used for psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, lichen simplex, chronic atopic dermatitis, ichthyosis, warts, verruca, corns, and calluses. It acts as a keratolytic agent.

Pharmacology
Salicylic acid softens and destroys the stratum corneum by increasing endogenous hydration, causing the horny layer of the skin to swell, soften, and then desquamate. At high concentrations, it has a caustic effect and also possesses weak antifungal and antibacterial activity.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Topical):
- Apply to affected area once daily
- Hydrate area for 5 minutes prior to application if possible
- Occlude the area at night; wash off in the morning

- Allergic reaction (shortness of breath, throat closure, swelling of lips/face/tongue, hives)
- Severe skin irritation
