Sulconazole Nitrate is an imidazole antifungal cream used for the treatment of tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris, tinea corporis, and pityriasis versicolor.

Pharmacology
Sulconazole Nitrate inhibits fungal cytochrome P450 enzymes, preventing 14α-lanosterol demethylation, which blocks ergosterol synthesis. Ergosterol is essential for fungal cell membrane integrity. Its deficiency increases membrane permeability and causes fungal cell death.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Topical):
- Tinea corporis/cruris/versicolor: Apply 1-2 times daily with gentle massage (3 weeks)
- Tinea pedis: Apply twice daily (4 weeks)
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Itching (approximately 1%)
- Burning or stinging (approximately 1%)
- Other rare cutaneous reactions

Use in Pregnancy: Not safe during pregnancy; consult your doctor.
Pregnancy Category: C — always consult a doctor before taking during pregnancy.

- Avoid contact with eyes
- Discontinue if irritation develops and institute appropriate therapy

Overdose effects
Overdose is not applicable (topical application); excessive use may cause skin irritation.
