Almitrine Bismesylate + Raubasine is a combination medicine that increases oxygen supply to the brain and neurosensory tissues. It is used to reduce neurological damage and accelerate recovery after stroke, treat minor age-related neurological disorders, and manage circulation-related visual and inner ear disorders.
Indications
Cerebrovascular insufficiency; reduction of neurological damage and acceleration of recovery after stroke; minor age-related neurological disorders; circulation-related visual disorders; circulation-related vestibular and auditory disorders (tinnitus, dizziness, vertigo).
Dosage
Adults:
- 1 tablet twice daily (morning and evening) – maximum 2 tablets per day
- Several hours interval between the two doses
- May be taken with or without food
Side effects
Common side effects:
- Weight loss (with long-term use)
- Nausea, heavy or burning sensation in stomach, gastrointestinal disorders
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Insomnia, drowsiness, restlessness, anxiety
- Dizziness, palpitations
- Peripheral neuropathy (numbness, tingling, formication in lower limbs) – rare with long-term use
Precautions & warnings
- Discontinue if numbness, tingling, or formication occurs in the lower limbs
- Discontinue if weight loss exceeds 5%
- Do not exceed the recommended dose
- Caution while driving (may cause drowsiness and dizziness)
- Caution in patients with lactose intolerance, galactosemia, or glucose-galactose malabsorption
