Dr. Shahedara Begum

is a pediatric ophthalmologist and strabismus surgeon in Bangladesh. She completed her MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford hospital under Dhaka University in 1989.She obtained the’’ Diploma in ophthalmology’’ under Dhaka University in 1997.She worked as a consultant in the pediatric department of Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and hospital from 1998 to 2010.She also worked as in glaucoma Research Eye Hospital and Al Noor Eye Hospital as a senior consultant. She has more than 19 years of professional experience in managing pediatric medical and surgical cases. She performed about 3200 pediatric cataract surgery including anterior vitrectomy and posterior capsulotomy. About 50 cases of sclera fixation IOL was done by her. About 50 post-operative complicated cases was managed by IOL explantation, redialing and surgicalmembranectomy. She also performed more than 300 successful squint surgeries.

is also active in the field of research and published 7 papers in different world renowned medical journals. She regularly attends various eye conferences.
