Professor Dr. Khandaker Qamrul Islam

Prof. Dr. Khandaker Qamrul Islam, MBBS, D‑Card (DU), MD (Cardiology), FACC (USA), is a distinguished interventional cardiologist and academic leader in Bangladesh. He earned his MBBS from Mymensingh Medical College in 1989, followed by a Diploma in Cardiology (D‑Card) from Dhaka University and an MD in Cardiology in 2000. He became a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), reflecting his recognition by peers in the U.S. .

With over 26 years of experience, Prof. Dr. Khandaker Qamrul Islam has performed more than 15,000 coronary angiograms, over 3,000 angioplasties, and hundreds of peripheral angiograms and pacemaker implantations . He served as Professor of Cardiology at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases & Hospital (NICVD) before joining Universal Medical College & Hospital Ltd. as Chief Clinical and Interventional Cardiologist .

Dr. Khandaker Qamrul Islam specializes in diagnosing and managing a wide array of cardiovascular conditions including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, and acute cardiac emergencies. His expertise extends to advanced procedures such as intravascular imaging (IVUS, OCT), treadmill testing, and catheter-based interventions .
