Amino Acids 5% & 10% is a parenteral nutrition solution used to treat protein deficiencies. It maintains nitrogen balance and replenishes protein reserves in extensive burns or protein-calorie malnutrition.
Description
Amino Acids 5% & 10% is a parenteral nutrition solution used for protein deficiency. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins essential for growth, repair and maintenance of muscle and tissues. It is used as part of parenteral nutrition when patients cannot take adequate oral nutrition. Catabolism of amino acids initiates in muscle and yields NADH and FADH2 which can be utilized for ATP generation.
Indications
Protein deficiency (protein-calorie malnutrition), extensive burns, maintaining nitrogen balance, post-surgical nutritional support, as part of parenteral nutrition.
Therapeutic class
Parenteral Nutrition
Pharmacological class
Amino Acid Solution
Pharmacology
Amino acids are the basic building blocks of proteins. They are essential for tissue growth, repair and maintenance. Catabolism of amino acids initiates in muscle and yields NADH and FADH2 which can be utilized for ATP generation. It helps maintain positive nitrogen balance and replenishes protein reserves.
Mechanism of action
Amino acids provide the essential building blocks for protein synthesis in the body. They support tissue repair and growth and maintain nitrogen balance.
