Description
Latanoprost 0.005% + Timolol 0.5% Eye Prep is a combination of two active ingredients: Latanoprost and Timolol Maleate. Latanoprost is a prostaglandin analogue that increases aqueous humor outflow to reduce eye pressure. Timolol is a beta-blocker that blocks beta receptors in the eye to reduce aqueous humor production. This combination lowers intraocular pressure (IOP) through both mechanisms.

Pharmacology
Latanoprost reduces IOP by increasing uveoscleral outflow of aqueous humor. Timolol reduces IOP by blocking beta receptors and decreasing aqueous humor production.
Mechanism of action
Reduces intraocular pressure by decreasing aqueous humor production and increasing outflow.
Dosage
Adult Dose:
- 1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening
Administration
- For ophthalmic use only
- Wash hands before use
- Hold dropper close to the eye without touching it; place drop in the lower eyelid
- Wipe off extra liquid
- Remove contact lenses before application and reinsert after 15 minutes
- Allow 5 minutes interval between different eye medications
Missed dose
Not generally applicable (regular daily use); consult doctor if needed.
Side effects

Precautions & warnings

- Do not use with contact lenses (contains benzalkonium chloride)

Contraindications
- History of asthma or COPD
- Very slow heart rate, irregular heartbeat, or heart failure
- Cardiogenic shock
- 2nd or 3rd degree heart block
- Allergy to any ingredients
Drug interactions
- Precipitation with thimerosal-containing eye drops; allow 5 minutes interval
- Monitor for additive effects with oral beta-blockers
