Naftidrofuryl Oxalate is used to improve peripheral circulation in peripheral vascular disorders. It works through 5HT2-blocking activity and spasmolytic effects to dilate blood vessels and prevent platelet aggregation.
Indications
- Intermittent claudication
- Cramps in legs at night
- Severe pain in legs while resting (rest pain)
- Pale or blue fingers or toes which get worse when cold
- Raynaud's syndrome or acrocyanosis
- Open sores on legs or feet (trophic ulcers)
- Diabetic arteriopathy
- Gangrene
Dosage
Adult Dose:
- 1-2 capsules three times daily during meals
- Minimum of 3 months or as directed by physician
Side effects
Side Effects (Uncommon):
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Epigastric pain
- Skin rash
Rare: Calcium oxalate kidney stones; liver damage
