Lurasidone Hydrochloride is a prescription medicine used in the treatment of schizophrenia, a mental disorder that can result in hallucinations or delusions and also adversely affects a person’s ability to think and behave. The mechanism of action of Lurasidone in the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar depression is unknown. However, its efficacy in schizophrenia and bipolar depression could be mediated through a combination of central dopamine Type 2 (D2) and serotonin Type 2 (5HT2A) receptor antagonism.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Lurasidone Hydrochloride is to be taken with food.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding. Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor first as it may cause worsening of symptoms.

Hypersensitivity. Concurrent administration of strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (eg, Ketoconazole). Concurrent administration of strong CYP3A4 inducers (eg, Rifampin). Dementia-related psychosis.

[UNSAFE] It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Lurasidone Hydrochloride.

[SAFE IF PRESCRIBED] Lurasidone Hydrochloride is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

[CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR] Lurasidone Hydrochloride is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
