Benzocaine + Oxytetracycline + Polymyxin B Eye prep

Benzocaine + Oxytetracycline + Polymyxin B is a combination eye preparation containing three active ingredients that work synergistically. Benzocaine is a local anesthetic that prevents the generation and transmission of impulses along nerve fibers. Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Polymyxin B disrupts the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane of most gram-negative organisms.

Eye drops: 1-2 drops 2-4 times daily.

Benzocaine is a local anesthetic that prevents the generation and transmission of impulses along nerve fibers and at nerve endings. Depolarization and ion-exchange are inhibited. In general, loss of pain occurs before loss of sensory, autonomic and motor functions.

Oxytetracycline binds reversibly to the 30S and possibly 50S ribosomal subunits, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and arresting cell growth. It is active against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.

Polymyxin B disrupts the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane of mostly gram-negative organisms by binding to membrane phospholipids, allowing leakage of intracellular constituents.

Benzocaine blocks sodium channels in nerve cells, reducing pain sensation. Oxytetracycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, stopping bacterial growth. Polymyxin B disrupts the cell membrane of gram-negative bacteria. Together, they provide effective treatment against infections.

Eye Drops: 1-2 drops 2-4 times daily.

For ophthalmic use only. Shake well before use. Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye or any surface. Keep eyes closed for 1-2 minutes after application. If using other eye drops, maintain 5-10 minutes gap.

If you miss a dose, apply as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
