Description
Cyclizine Hydrochloride is an antihistaminic antiemetic drug. It possesses anticholinergic and antiemetic properties. It reduces the excitability of the inner ear labyrinth and acts directly on the vomiting (emetic) center in the brain stem.

Pharmacology
Cyclizine Hydrochloride is an antihistaminic antiemetic drug. It possesses anticholinergic and antiemetic properties. It reduces excitability of inner ear labyrinth and acts directly on the vomiting (emetic) center in the brain stem.
Mechanism of action
Cyclizine Hydrochloride reduces the excitability of the inner ear labyrinth and acts directly on the vomiting center in the brain stem to prevent nausea and vomiting.
Dosage
Motion Sickness:
Adults: 1 Tablet (50 mg)
Children (6 years & above): 1/2 Tablet (25 mg)
Take 1 tablet at least 30 minutes before journey, repeat 1 tablet if journey is more than 6 hours.
Postoperative Nausea & Vomiting, Meniere's disease:
Adults: 1 Tablet (50 mg) every 6-8 hours daily
Children (6 years & above): 1/2 Tablet (25 mg) every 6-8 hours daily
Administration
Take orally with or without food. Take in the dose and duration as advised by your registered doctor.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Cyclizine Hydrochloride, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.

- Itching or skin rashes
- Swelling of the face, lips or throat
- Difficulty in breathing or wheeziness

- Glaucoma
- Urinary retention
- Obstructive disease of the gastrointestinal tract
- Hepatic disease
- Hypertension
- Epilepsy
- Severe heart failure
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to the other excipients
- Acute alcohol intoxication
Drug interactions
Alcohol and other CNS depressants (hypnotics, tranquillisers, anaesthetics, antipsychotics & barbiturates): Additive effects may occur.
Pethidine: Enhances the soporific effect.
Opioid analgesics: Counteracts the haemodynamic benefits.
Food interactions
Can be taken with or without food.
Use in pregnancy
It is safe in pregnancy according to TGA category 'A' and US FDA category 'B'.
Pregnancy Category: B — always consult a doctor before taking during pregnancy.
Use in lactation
Cyclizine Hydrochloride is excreted in milk. So in case of lactating mother, precaution should be taken before taking Cyclizine Hydrochloride.
Pediatric use
Safety and effectiveness in children below 6 years have not been established.
Geriatric use
No dosage adjustment is necessary in elderly patients. However, caution should be exercised.
Renal / hepatic impairment
Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver problems.
Overdose effects
No adequate information on overdose is available. In case of overdose, toxicity may occur and medical assistance should be sought.
