Description
Luliconazole is a topical antifungal agent belonging to the azole group. It inhibits the enzyme lanosterol demethylase and blocks ergosterol synthesis, an important constituent of the fungal cell membrane. This increases cell permeability and causes leakage of cellular contents, leading to fungal death.

Pharmacology
Luliconazole inhibits lanosterol demethylase to block ergosterol synthesis, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane, leading to increased cell permeability and leakage of cellular contents.
Mechanism of action
Kills fungi on the skin by destroying their cell membrane.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Topical):
- Tinea Pedis: Apply to affected area and surrounding 1 inch once daily for 2 weeks
- Tinea Cruris and Tinea Corporis: Apply to affected area and surrounding 1 inch once daily for 1 week
Children (12-18 years): Tinea Corporis/Cruris: once daily for 1 week; Tinea Pedis (2-18 years): once daily for 2 weeks
Administration
- For external use only
- Apply to affected area and approximately 1 inch of the immediate surrounding area
- Check label for directions before use
- Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mouth
Missed dose
Not generally applicable (regular daily use); consult doctor if needed.
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Application site reactions (burning, irritation, itching, redness) - less than 1%
- Contact dermatitis
- Cellulitis
Precautions & warnings
- Discontinue use if allergic reaction occurs
- For topical use only; not for ophthalmic, oral, or intravaginal use
- Inform doctor if infection has not cleared after 4 weeks of treatment
