At a glance
Rabies Vaccine (Human) BP is an inactivated virus vaccine used for active immunization against rabies. It can be used for pre- and post-exposure immunization and is often used with rabies immunoglobulin for post-exposure immunization.
Description
Rabies Vaccine is a freeze-dried preparation of inactivated rabies virus produced on Vero cells. After reconstitution, the vaccine is a clear, colorless sterile solution for intramuscular use. It provides active immunization and is indicated for pre-exposure (high-risk professionals) and post-exposure (bite or contact with rabid animal).
Indications
- Pre-exposure immunization (high-risk professionals: veterinarians, laboratory personnel, forestry workers)
- Post-exposure immunization (bite or contact with rabid animal)
Therapeutic class
Vaccines, Anti-sera & Immunoglobulin
Pharmacological class
Inactivated Virus Vaccine (Cell Culture)
Pharmacology
Rabies Vaccine is an inactivated virus vaccine that stimulates antibody production against the rabies virus, providing active immunization. For post-exposure immunization, it takes about 7-10 days for specific antibodies to develop, so it is often used with rabies immunoglobulin.
Mechanism of action
Stimulates antibody production against rabies virus.
