Description

Sodium Cromoglycate inhibits mast cell degranulation, suppressing the release of histamine, leukotrienes, and slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis. It helps relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, and watery eyes.

Pharmacology

Sodium Cromoglycate stabilizes mast cell membranes, preventing the release of histamine, leukotrienes, and slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis after antigen-antibody reaction. It reduces the severity of allergic symptoms and acts prophylactically.

Mechanism of action

Prevents release of allergy mediators by inhibiting mast cell degranulation.

Dosage

Adult (Eyes):

  • 1-2 drops into each eye 2-3 times daily

Adult (Nose):

  • 1-2 drops into each nostril 2-4 times daily

Child (Eyes):

  • 1-2 drops into each eye 2-3 times daily

Child (Nose):

  • 1-2 drops into each nostril 2-4 times daily
Administration
  • For ophthalmic and nasal use only
  • Do not touch dropper tip to eye or any other surface
  • Use as directed
Missed dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember; if almost time for the next dose, skip it; do not double the dose.

Side effects

Side Effects:

  • Nasal: Transient nasal mucosa irritation, sneezing, epistaxis (occasional)
  • Eyes: Transient burning and stinging

  • Do not wear contact lenses during treatment (contains benzalkonium chloride)
  • Inform doctor if symptoms do not improve within 3 weeks
