Indications
Indicated during pregnancy & lactation to prevent neural tube defects and spontaneous abortions; dietary supplement for adults and postmenopausal women; managing medication-induced or dialysis-induced folate deficiency; and support in depression, cognitive impairment, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease.
Dosage
1-2 Capsules daily or as directed by the physician.
Side effects
Generally well-tolerated. Rarely, gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, flatulence, abdominal distension) or hypersensitivity reactions (rash, erythema, pruritus) may occur.
Precautions & warnings
Inadequate as monotherapy for pernicious anemia and Vitamin B12 deficiency as it may obscure neurological manifestations.
