Nalbuphine Hydrochloride is an opioid analgesic used for moderate to severe pain. It blocks transmission of pain signals to the brain to lower pain perception.
Indications
- Moderate to severe pain
- Pain associated with myocardial infarction
- Supplement to balanced anesthesia
- Preoperative and postoperative analgesia
- Obstetrical analgesia during labor
Dosage
Adult Dose (Parenteral):
- Moderate-severe pain: IM/IV/SC: 10-20 mg 3-6 hrly; non-opioid-tolerant patients max single dose 20 mg; max daily 160 mg
- Anesthesia supplement: Induction: 0.3-3 mg/kg over 10-15 min; Maintenance: 0.25-0.5 mg/kg
- Myocardial infarction: Slow IV 10-20 mg, repeat after 30 min if needed
Pediatric Dose (18 months-15 years): 0.2 mg/kg IV/IM, 4-6 hrly
