Description
Remdesivir is a multi-purpose antiviral medicine. It is used to treat suspected or laboratory-confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in adults and children admitted to the hospital with severe disease. The medication decreases the viral load in the body and increases the healing process. Remdesivir works by inhibiting RNA polymerase, an RNA-dependent enzyme that allows the SARS-CoV-2 virus to replicate itself. It is administered via injection into veins under the guidance of a doctor. You should only use Remdesivir if your doctor has prescribed it. Take it just as prescribed by your doctor. Remdesivir should not be taken on your own. Remdesivir is a broad-spectrum antiviral. It works by inhibiting RNA polymerase, an RNA-dependent enzyme that helps the SARS-CoV-2 virus replicate itself. As a result, the body's viral load decreases.
