Dr. Farhat Jahan

Dr Farhat Jahan is a dedicated, experienced cornea, cataract and refractive surgery specialist. she has been working as a consultant in Bangladesh Eye Hospital & Institute since 2012 serving patients in Dhanmondi and Uttara branch.

Dr Farhat Jahan completed her MBBS from Sylhet M.A.G. Osmani Medical College Hospital in 1992. Then she did 1 year training in Ophthalmology in Chittagong Medical College and Hospital. After that she joined Bangladesh Government Health services (BCS, Health) and served many rural & hill districts. She did her Diploma in Ophthalmology in 1999 from National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital. Later on she joined as a clinical assistant in the Eye department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. She then persued her 2 years training in Ophthalmology from National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital (N.I.O&H). Later on she accomplished FCPS from Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons (BCPS) in 2007 & finished her M.S in Ophthalmology in 2008 from Dhaka University. She continued her ophthalmic clinical services at various Health complexes.

In 2011, Dr Farhat completed long term fellowship in cornea & Anterior Segment from Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital, Dhaka in Collaboration with L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India.

She is serving as an assistant professor & faculty in National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital for last few years and is practicing in Cornea & Anterior Segment Subspecialty in Bangladesh Eye Hospital & Institute. She perform many Cornea related surgeries eg. Cornea transplant, Collagen cross linking, Pterygium Surgery, Amniotic membrane graft & many more.

She is also an expert Phaco Surgeon doing various difficult & refractive cataract surgeries and many refractive surgeries eg. LASIK, PTK, PRK, Femto LASIK, TPRK + CXL etc.

Dr. Farhat studies & does research an Cornea & Anterior Segment related clinical condition. she has various publications in different journal in Bangladesh & Abroad. She teaches student in different Ophthelmic Courses in N.I.O&H and Bangladesh Eye Hospital & Institute. She attended various Ophthelmic conferences at home and abroad to widen and update her knowledge & skills Eg. OSB, AIOS, APACRS, BSCRS, KERACON, ASIA CORNEA SOCIETY, Refractive surgery 360, Keratoconus Conference etc.
