Description
Nimesulide is an NSAID with anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, and analgesic properties. It inhibits prostaglandin synthetase/cyclooxygenase to limit prostaglandin production. Its COX-2 selectivity reduces gastric injury risk. It is also a free radical scavenger that protects against tissue damage during inflammation.

Pharmacology
Nimesulide inhibits COX-2 enzyme to limit prostaglandin production, reducing pain, inflammation and fever. It acts as a free radical scavenger to protect against tissue damage.
Mechanism of action
Relieves pain, inflammation and fever by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- 100 mg twice daily; use max of 15 days
Administration
- Take with food
- Use measuring cup
- Shake well before use
- Take at the same time each day
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember; skip if it's almost time for next dose; do not double the dose.

- Potentiates action of phenytoin
Food interactions
Alcohol may increase stomach problems; avoid.
Use in pregnancy
