Indications

Pharmacology
Nimesulide inhibits COX-2 enzyme to limit prostaglandin production, reducing pain, inflammation and fever. It acts as a free radical scavenger to protect against tissue damage.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- 100 mg twice daily; use max of 15 days

Common Side Effects:
- Vomiting
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
Use in pregnancy
Use in Pregnancy: Nimesulide is highly unsafe during pregnancy; definite evidence of fetal harm.
Pregnancy Category: C — always consult a doctor before taking during pregnancy.
Precautions & warnings
- Long-term use may lead to stomach bleeding and kidney problems
- Caution if history of heart disease or stroke
- Monitor for hepatotoxicity
- Do not use during pregnancy
- Not for children under 12 years
- Avoid alcohol
Overdose effects
Overdose may cause severe hepatotoxicity; symptomatic treatment.
