At a glance

Nimesulide is an NSAID used for pain, inflammation and fever. It selectively inhibits COX-2 enzyme to limit prostaglandin production, reducing the risk of gastric injury.

Dosage

Adult Dose (Oral):

  • 100 mg twice daily; use max of 15 days

Common Side Effects:

  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
Precautions & warnings
  • Long-term use may lead to stomach bleeding and kidney problems
  • Caution if history of heart disease or stroke
  • Monitor for hepatotoxicity
  • Do not use during pregnancy
  • Not for children under 12 years
  • Avoid alcohol
